Using Your Library
The Otto Bruyns Public Library of Northfield offers a wide range of services to support learning, connection, and everyday needs for our community. Whether you are getting a library card, using public computers, printing documents, or reserving a meeting room, this page provides helpful information to make your visit easy and enjoyable. Select a section below to learn more about how to access library services, understand borrowing guidelines, and make the most of everything your library has to offer.
To sign up for a library card, please stop by the library in person with a valid license or ID. If your current license or ID does not list your Atlantic County or COIL residence, please bring a piece of mail (ex: utility bill) showing your current address.
- Application must be filled out listing address and phone number; email given as an optional contact
- Current ID must be shown
- Cards will be available for all ages. Youth cards for ages 17 and under will require an adult signature upon creation
- To be eligible for library privileges members must be residents of Atlantic County or from a community belonging to the Coalition of Independent Libraries of South Jersey; this includes Ocean City and Avalon
Library card required
- Sessions are time-limited but extendable if no one is waiting
- Youth and adult computers are designated by age
- Printing services available for a fee
- Internet access is provided in compliance with federal and state law
The Otto Bruyns Public Library offers printing, photocopying, and scanning services for library patrons. Staff assistance is available for scanning documents to email, printing, or saving files to a library workstation.
Patrons are responsible for complying with all copyright laws when copying, printing, or scanning materials. Copyrighted materials may not be reproduced, sold, or distributed without permission from the copyright holder. Please review the Photocopy & Scanning Policy.
Printing & Copying Fees
- Black & white copies/prints: $0.15 per page
- Large images, photographs, or graphic-heavy pages: $0.50 per page
Scanning Services
Library staff can assist patrons with:
- Scanning documents to email
- Sending scans to a library workstation
- Printing scanned documents
Mobile Printing
- Go to print.princh.com, enter OBPL’s printer-ID 113386, upload a document or photo, choose color and copy selections, accept the Terms and Conditions and continue.
- Patrons must remember the 4-digit code provided on the next screen, in order to print their document/s. Staff cannot access or reset this code.
- Pay at the front desk and have a staff member release your document/s from the virtual queue.
- Go to the printer workstation and type in your 4-digit code to receive your prints.
The Otto Bruyns Public Library meeting room is available for community organizations, educational programs, cultural events, and civic activities that align with the Library’s mission and service goals. When not being used for Library-sponsored events, the meeting room may be reserved by eligible local groups on a first-come, first-served basis and in accordance with the Library’s Meeting Room Policy.

Loan Period & Fines
- Fines: “We are fine free!
There are no daily fines for overdue items. Patrons are responsible for paying the replacement cost of an item if the item is lost or damaged, at the discretion of the Library Director.
Overdue
When filling out a library application, patrons can choose to be contacted by phone, mail, or email to receive reminders about overdue items. Checkouts may be blocked for patrons with items that are over 90 days overdue or who have charges on their account exceeding $15.
This may be waived at the discretion of the Library Director if the patron has a valid explanation. Patrons with non-resident visitors’ cards may lose privileges permanently, if they are persistent offenders.
Lost or Damaged Materials
Patrons are responsible for the replacement cost of lost or damaged materials while in their possession.
Lost cards will be replaced for $1.00.
